A Bridge for Butembo-Beni. The lay adp-vv missionaries set out to accomplish this work of charity.

Updated: Oct 12, 2020

On December 28th, the first charity dinner took place at the soup kitchen of St. Corrado of Noto for the construction of a bridge in Butembo-Beni, a diocese of the Congo paired for years now with that of Noto (Sicily).

A beautiful charitable project for brothers of the Congo

The project was begun from an idea of the lay adp-vv missionaries, encouraged and supported by the founder and servant general of the pfsgm, Friar Volantino Verde, who is also responsible for the soup kitchen for the poor of Noto (appointed by Bishop A. Staglianò). He thought it would be good to use the facilities where they usually serve to poor of Noto to carry out this important work of charity towards the "twin" diocese of the Congo. This is a great opportunity to perform a concrete act of charity towards our dear African brothers-- a gesture that many people feel they want to do but don't know how to put into practice.

The proceeds of the charity dinner will be given to Giuseppe Piazza, one of the adp-vv part-time lay missionaries in Siracusa, Sicily, who also made a prepaid card available for the collection of remote funds. Upon reaching the amount necessary for the construction of the bridge, the adp-vv missionaries, together with Friar Volantino, will personally verify the construction of the bridge, sending the images proving the completion of the work to Italy.

Who are the adp-vv lay missionaries?

The adp-vv missionaries (full-time and part-time), are some lay people who are already "allies" in our Marian adp-vv groups of prayer that have decided to give something more tot he Lord, following the charism and spirituality proper to the pfsgm. They are currently 2 Portuguese and 2 Italians who engage diligently not only in the Marian prayer of the meditated and sung Rosary, but are distinguished in a particular way in the works of charity, especially in helping the pfsgm in their works of charity and evangelization!
